Abortion and STDs

According to the CDC 2, the most common STDs are Chlamydia (CT) and Gonorrhea (GC). In both diseases, women between the ages of 20-24, followed by women between the ages of 15-19, had the highest rates of infection. With chlamydia infections, many women are asymptomatic – they do not know they have the disease.

Untreated STDs are known risks to developing Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID). PID can lead to serious health outcomes in women including infertility, ectopic pregnancy, and chronic pelvic pain. Additionally, when a woman has an abortion and an untreated Chlamydia or Gonorrhea infection is present, she has a 23% percent increased chance of developing PID.

Both Chlamydia and Gonorrhea are easily treatable infections.[/vc_column_text][dt_gap height=”10″][dt_gap height=”10″][vc_column_text]Are you considering having an abortion?
