11 Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy

Here’s a simple list to get an expectant mom healthy for her unborn baby. The best thing is, while your goal maybe to cut out some unhealthy habits for the sake of your baby, you will also reap the benefits and may even end up making some lifestyle choices. Onto those 11 tips!

  1. Eat a healthy balanced diet, including foods with calcium and iron
  2. Don’t try to lose weight during pregnancy
  3. Take a prenatal multivitamin, as directed on the label or by your provider
  4. Check with your healthcare provider (HCP) before taking any medications, including over-the-counter medicines
  5. Try to get plenty of rest – take a nap during the day, go to bed a little earlier, etc
  6. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated
  7. Unless directed by your HCP, you can typically continue your normal exercise routine
  8. Check with your HCP regarding any concerns related to your job or other activity
  9. Try to quit smoking, or at least cut back
  10. Avoid alcohol
  11. Limit caffeine intake

By following these 11 tips, you can increase the likelihood of a healthy pregnancy, delivery and baby.1
